HOWARD and MICHELLE
MASSEY-HICKSOwner run and living their dream, Howard and Michelle
started Danforth Yachting lodge and yacht charters in
2001. The couple have both sailed since their youth and
both grew up enjoying watersports. They decided to sell
up their town based electrical business, to live and
work on Lake Malawi.
Howard is an Electrical Engineer, turned mariner. He has
over 40,000 nautical miles under his belt and is
regarded as the authority on sailing and navigating Lake
Malawi. Howard is also a PADI Divemaster, Hobie-cat
sailor, waterskier, fisherman and larger than life host!
The yacht Mufasa is his pride and joy and Howard makes
sure the yacht is maintained in pristine condition.
Michelle's job description is diverse - everything from
yacht crew, hostess, administrator and kitchen
supervisor, to waterski demonstrator and seamstress!
Michelle adds the feminine touch to the lodge and is
ever the gentle hostess. Howard and Michelle make a
formidable team and are the backbone behind Danforth
Yachting.
LOUIS VAN WYK and JO KRUGER
Louis Van Wyk and his partner chef Jo Kruger have come
up from South Africa to work alongside our Malawian
team. Louis is the PADI scuba diving instructor and
watersports instructor. He is an experienced scuba diver
and free diver. Louis has a passion for all watersports
and things aquatic and a fascination with nature and the
underwater environment. He is also an ace slalom
waterskier!
Jo is a qualified and experienced chef with wonderful
cooking skills and creativity. Always friendly and
happy, Jo is guiding the Danforth Yachting kitchen team
to new heights with her valuable skills and fresh,
up-to-date ideas.
RYCE MAKATA (Chef)
Ryce has worked for the Massey-Hicks family for nearly
15 years and has adapted and grown into the position of
head chef at Danforth Yachting. His exceptional cooking
skills combined with his happy disposition and seniority
make Ryce an invaluable member of the Danforth team.
THE TEAM
Most of the staff are residents of the local Chembe
Village situated nearby. Willing, friendly and helpful,
the team strive to give you a wonderful Lake Malawi
holiday experience. Ongoing training and updating of
skills helps the staff reach their full potential.
