11 Night itinerary along Lake Malawi's coastline  •  OTHER PACKAGES

Day 1: Club Makokola
The yacht “Mufasa” will arrive at Club Makokola in the southern region of Lake Malawi. Meet the crew for drinks. Dinner and overnight at Club Makokola lakeshore hotel. (Click here for Club Mak's website.)

Day 2: Monkey Bay
After breakfast, go on board the yacht “Mufasa” and set sail via Chirombo Bay. Stop off for a refreshing swim or snorkel at Mzinzi Bay, crystal clear waters and an abundance of brightly coloured tropical fish, known as Cichlids, unique to Lake Malawi. Overnight at anchor on the yacht.

Day 3: Danforth Lodge
Sail to Monkey Bay. Stop in to view the vessels in the harbour. Head through the Ilala gap to Cape Maclear. Arrive mid morning at Danforth Yachting luxury lodge in Cape Maclear. Watersports, sailing and activities all available. Overnight at Danforth Yachting lodge.

Day 4: Mumbo Island
Transfer to Kayak Africa's camp on Mumbo island. Kayak, snorkel, swim, relax. Beautiful surroundings, comfortable accommodation in large, furnished safari tents on thatched wooden decks overlooking the lake. Rustic yet luxurious. (Click here for Kayak Africa's website)

Day 5: Chiofu Bay
The beautiful yacht “Mufasa” will collect you from Mumbo Island to start the journey sailing north. Sail to Chiofu Bay and set up dinner on the beach. Enjoy a beach barbeque under the African stars. Overnight on Mufasa at anchor in the bay.

Day 6: Illala Bay
After a relaxed start to the day, up anchor and set sail north on Mufasa. Sail through the day. Arrive in the evening at Likoma Island. Anchor down in the IIlala Bay at Likoma Island.

Day 7: Nkwichi Lodge - Mozambique
Speedboat transfer to Nkwichi Lodge in Mozambique. Customs and immigration formalities will be arranged by Nkwichi Lodge. Squeeky white sand, uniquely constructed rooms and custom made local furniture give this lodge charm and character. Overnight at Nkwichi lodge on full board basis, excluding drinks. Day 8: Kaya Mawa - Likoma Island

Day 9: Chisimulu Island
Sail on Mufasa to Chisimulu Island. Swim, snorkel, scuba dive. Take a walk all the way around this quaint island. Enjoy a drink at the backpackers bar. Overnight on board “Mufasa” in a sheltered cove on Chisimulu Island.

Day 10: Nkata Bay
Sail from Chisimulu Island to Nkata Bay. Take in the sights and sounds of this bustling, vibrant little port. Take a walk through the streets enjoying some curio shopping. Have a meal at a café in the bay. Overnight on board “Mufasa” at anchor.

Day 11: Makuzi Beach Lodge
Depart Nkhata Bay and sail south to arrive at Makuzi Beach lodge at Bandawe point. Lunch on shore with the crew. Bid farewell to Mufasa as she sets sail back south. Spend the night at Makuzi Beach enjoying great meals, water sport, rest and relaxation. (Click here for Makuzi Beach's website)

The Yacht Mufasa is a 10 berth, 38 foot Maxim catamaran, designed by Alexander Simonis. She is powered by 2 x 27hp Yanmar diesel engines and has a sail area of 85 sq metres. Mast height 17 metres, draft 800mm and beam width 6.3 metres. Mufasa is the only live-aboard catamaran on Lake Malawi. The yacht is fully equipped and crewed. Layout comprises 4 cabins with queen sized beds and 2 single cabins, 2 bathrooms and an outside hot water shower, galley, saloon and cockpit under shade. The yacht is fully equipped for cruising, has category 1 blue water safety equipment. Fishing tackle, masks and snorkels are on board and available for guests use. Scuba diving equipment will be loaded on for diving charters.

Danforth Lodge: The stylish lodge at Cape Maclear has en-suite family rooms. Top cuisine on offer. With activities such as water skiing, knee boarding, wake boarding, mountain biking, hobie-cat sailing, nature walks, table tennis, trampoline and pool table. Sparkling swimming pool and superb views over the lake to the islands

Mumbo Island: Situated on a pristine tropical island, this superb tented camp is perched up on the rocks high above the water. Rustic charm, minimal impact on the surroundings.

Nkwichi Lodge: On the Mozambiquan shores, this eco-friendly lodge is set in it’s own private bay. Seven spacious wooden chalets blend in with the forest and look out over the lake.

Kaya Mawa Lodge: Eight stone and teak framed cottages have a panoramic view of the lake with private terraces and direct access to the water.

Makuzi Beach lodge: a holiday hideaway for total tranquillity and relaxation. 8 tastefully furnished, en-suite chalets overlooking the beach, all with lake views
