7 night live-aboard sailing safari on Lake Malawi •  OTHER PACKAGES

Day 1: Makuzi Beach
Road transfer from Lilongwe to Chinteche. This fabulous sailing safari starts in the Chinteche area on the coast of Lake Malawi. Spend night one at Makuzi beach lodge at Bandawe point.

Day 2: Nkhata Bay
After breakfast go onboard the yacht “Mufasa” and set sail north to Nkhata Bay. Anchor down in the bay. Go on shore, have a drink and a meal in this vibrant little port area. Take in the sights and sounds of the local scene. Overnight on board “Mufasa” at anchor in Nkhata Bay.

Day 3: Ruawe
Up anchor and set sail further north to the more remote parts of the lake. Sail up to Ruawe where the Lizunkuni river comes down into the lake in a spectacular waterfall. Overnight at anchor in a sheltered cove.

Day 4: Liuli - Tanzania
Sail across to Liuli Mission on the Tanzanian coast. Magnificent coast line of rocky cliffs. Anchor down next to the "Sphinxhaven" , a huge rock in the bay at Liuli. Go on shore to clear customs and immigration. (Visa fee US$ 50.00 per person may be applicable) Have a look around the mission and then enjoy a leisurely beach barbeque.

Day 5: Mbamba Bay
Sail south to Mbamba Bay along some spectacular coastline. Great snorkeling over the reef, excellent fishing and a beautiful bay for anchorage.

Day 6: Likoma Island
Sail to Likoma Island. Arrive in the afternoon. Visit the sights of Likoma Island. Take a walk through the cobbled market square and be led on a tour of the magnificent St. Pauls Cathederal. Enjoy the culture and history Likoma Island has to offer. Overnight on board the Yacht.

Day 7: Chisimulu Island
A short distance from Likoma is Chisimulu island. Sail around the island. Anchor down for meals and go for a swim. Take a walk around the island. Overnight on board the yacht.

Day 8: Makuzi Beach
Early morning sail across from Chisimulu to Bandawe point, back to our starting point of Makuzi Beach lodge. Road transfer to Lilongwe for onward itinerary.

The yacht “Mufasa”: The magnificent 38’ full live-aboard catamaran “Mufasa” is the only live aboard yacht on Lake Malawi.

The yacht Mufasa is a 10 berth, 38 foot Maxim catamaran, designed by Alexander Simonis. She is powered by 2 x 27hp Yanmar diesel engines and has a sail area of 85 sq metres. Mast height 17 metres, draft 800mm and beam width 6.3 metres. Mufasa is the only live-aboard catamaran on Lake Malawi. Fully crewed with skipper, deck hand and chef ensures you will sail in comfort, luxury and style. Layout comprises 4 cabins with queen sized beds and 2 single cabins, 2 bathrooms and an outside hot water shower, galley, saloon and cockpit under shade. The yacht is fully equipped for cruising, has category 1 blue water safety equipment. Fishing tackle, masks and snorkels are on board and available for guests use. Scuba diving equipment by request for diving charters
